Oral Conscious Sedation
We prescribe oral conscious sedation to those who suffer from moderate to severe dental anxiety and to those who have special healthcare needs that make it difficult to sit through a procedure.
Prior to writing your prescription, our gentle dentists in Southern Pines will speak with you and review your health history to determine which type of oral sedative is best for you. Typically, oral conscious sedation comes in pill or syrup form and should be taken at least 30 minutes before the start of your appointment.
Remember, if you take oral sedation, you cannot drive after your appointment. Make sure you have a friend or family member pick you up and drive you home following your appointment.
Laughing Gas
Our lightest form of sedation, laughing gas is administered through a comfortable hood that is kept over your nose for the duration of the procedure.
