Meet Our Dentists

Hi! My name is Dr. James White. I was born in Chapel Hill, NC ( sorry Dr. O) 7 minutes and 11 sec AHEAD of my twin sister, while my dad was in the orthodontic program and my mom was a hygienist. I was raised in Wilmington, NC - much of it on the water or in the water, in and out boats. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in English and pre-med/pre-dent. I received my DDS degree from UNC Chapel Hill school of dentistry. After dental school, I went into a 2-year residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC where I received my GPR ( general practice residency ) certificate which broadened my experience with dentistry into the diversity of medical care - to understand how to care for people with all types of conditions. After I was an associate dentist in Raleigh for 4 years and traveled on weekends for Medicaid work, I was blessed to start my own practice for 20 years serving full-service care to a rural area with a wonderful dental team, raising our families, and growing with a dental family of patients. I have now returned home to Wilmington NC - where I am still 7 min and 11 sec older than my twin sister and O2 is now my dental home. Outside the office, I love my family and 2 labrador retrievers Rosie and Hank, creating music and helping where I can. I really enjoy taking any area of dentistry and discovering what patient goals are, then educating and aligning dental care to deliver that! I love being a part of a team at 02 dental group that is always ready to help and give great dental treatment.
Hello! My name is Dr. Olusegun Oyegunwa, but most call me Dr. O.  I was born in Nigeria and moved to The United States at the age of 9.  I spent my childhood in Raleigh, NC.  After high school,  I attended North Carolina State University, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Microbiology, summa cum laude.  After undergrad, I continued my education at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where I received my dental degree.  I’ll be honest, as a die-hard wolfpacker, it was difficult studying at UNC, a rival, but I made it through.  After dental school, I pursued an extensive Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and believe in a conservative approach toward dental care with a strong emphasis on prevention. Outside of the office, I enjoy cheering on my alma mater, NC State, and spending time with my wife, Lydia, and family. I am happy to help you realize your goals and expectations concerning your oral health.  Let’s do it!
